Stone Carving Class

Every Wednesday 10-12PM

Develop your carving skills!

Learn to carve stone using traditional hand tools! Using just a hammer and chisel you will enjoy the satisfaction of turning a piece of raw Oamaru stone into a wonderful creation for your garden or for indoors. Classes are held in the stone carving yard, which is in front of the Community Woodwork Shed at Rowley Resource Centre.

  • The cost is dependent on the size of stone that you will need to create your masterpiece. It will be a small cost.
  • The classes are run every Wednesdays at Rowley Resource Centre during school term only, between 10am – 12pm.
  • Classes are kept small and limited due to space restrictions.
  • All tools will be provided.
  • Ideal for those with little or no stone carving experience, however all are welcome.
  • For more information, you can pop into our Centre on Wednesdays between 10am-12pm to talk to Eddie Cook, the Stone Carving Tutor who will explain to you everything you will need to know before you can start.
