Develop your carving skills!
Learn to carve stone using traditional hand tools! Using just a hammer and chisel you will enjoy the satisfaction of turning a piece of raw Oamaru stone into a wonderful creation for your garden or for indoors. Classes are held in the stone carving yard, which is in front of the Community Woodwork Shed at Rowley Resource Centre.
Requirements:
Please ensure you wear appropriate warm (old) clothing and suitable footwear (closed-toe, closed-heel shoes) as you will be working outdoors in a sheltered area.
Long hair must be tied back.
You will need to wear a mask during class, due to the stone dust.
